Profile — who I am, simply

Aim

My Ambition

To create a world where trust, knowledge, and compassion turn ideas into meaningful impact.

I believe trust is one of the rarest and most valuable things in the world. My aim is to create work, relationships, ideas, and systems that people can genuinely rely on — without manipulation, delay, or false promises.

I want to use my potential in the most meaningful way possible: to create, to teach, to guide, and to contribute in ways that are truly useful to society.

At the core of everything I do is a simple belief: Knowledge must be shared.

Learning has value only when it reaches others. Whether through research, writing, technology, conversations, or content creation, I want to make information accessible, understandable, and useful — without unnecessary barriers or delays.

I aspire to:

  • spread love, peace, and awareness,
  • inspire people through action rather than words,
  • create genuine and honest work,
  • remain fearless in thought and expression,
  • stay open to meaningful collaborations.

I strongly believe in: “Follow what you preach.” A principle I learned from my father — to walk and talk with integrity.

I want my name to represent trustworthiness — a person people can approach for unbiased guidance, honest perspective, and sincere help. Long after I am gone, I hope my work continues to inspire people to choose what is right, even in difficult situations.

Background

Where I Belong — Family

I am the daughter of Dr. Sudhir Gupta and Dr. Nisha Gupta, born and brought up in the vibrant city of Chandigarh, with roots running deep in Ambala, Haryana. My mother is the Principal of S.D. Senior Secondary School — a dedicated educator who shaped my earliest lessons in purpose and perseverance.

My father has been the steady anchor of our family. His wisdom and his principle — “Follow what you preach” — have shaped who I am. My brother Mr. Anmol Gupta keeps me laughing in equal measure; his talent in digital marketing makes me proud.

Achievements

I play cricket, carrom, chess, and kho-kho — and have the gold medals to prove it. I keep a travel diary across countries and states. I read the Times of India every morning. I write poetry, paint, do embroidery, and make resin art.

I'm interested in how mathematics touches everything — music, art, and human systems. My YouTube channel, Mathematical Concepts, was built on this belief. I represented Haryana at the State Chess Championship. Mathematics is, at bottom, a form of attention.

My Work — ideas in motion

Teaching, community-building, and research shared in public.

YouTube — Mathematical Concepts

Founded in 2020, my YouTube channel, Mathematical Concepts | Bhavya, was created with the vision of making mathematics more engaging, understandable, and relatable for students and learners. The channel focuses on higher-mathematics topics including JAM, CSIR-NET, GATE, abstract algebra, linear algebra, calculus, and problem-solving techniques, while also connecting mathematics with creativity, real-life applications, and student experiences.

Over the years, I have shared lectures, conceptual discussions, solved examples, and educational presentations aimed at simplifying complex mathematical ideas for undergraduate and competitive-exam aspirants. The channel also features unique interdisciplinary talks such as Mathematics in Arts & Music (2023), Heart Curves (2022), Constructible Numbers (2021), and Ring Theory (2021), highlighting the beauty and creativity of mathematics beyond textbooks.

In addition to academic content, the platform includes motivational and student-oriented discussions such as Exams & Life and Interview with topper AIR-49. I aim to guide students in balancing academics, preparation strategies, and personal growth.

Through this initiative, I have mentored and supported students in understanding advanced mathematical concepts while building a learning space driven by curiosity, clarity, and passion for mathematics.

Artistic Expressions

Check out my creations by clicking here

Creativity has always been an important part of my personality. Beyond academics and research, I find joy in expressing emotions, ideas, and imagination through different forms of art — from delicate embroidery and colorful paintings to handmade crochet creations, origami, posters, and calligraphy. Every artwork reflects patience, passion, and self-expression.

Art, for me, is not just a hobby but a peaceful escape — a way to transform thoughts into something meaningful and beautiful. I enjoy experimenting with colors, textures, patterns, and words, constantly learning new artistic skills and exploring different creative styles.

Each creation carries a story — some inspired by nature, some by emotions, and others by motivational thoughts and everyday experiences. Through these artistic pursuits, I continue to nurture creativity, mindfulness, and the joy of learning something new every day.

My Life — three chapters

The parts that don't appear in a CV.

i. Life at IITB

A place of dreams — whatever you wish for

IIT Bombay is a place where whatever you dream of becomes possible if you are clear about what you want. The campus is genuinely beautiful — enormous trees, the Powai Lake, and an atmosphere of intellectual intensity that never quite lets you get comfortable in the wrong ways. It pushes you to be better.

Beyond research, campus life here has given me gold medals in cricket, carrom, and kho-kho, opportunities to anchor events, attend national seminars, and connect with brilliant people across disciplines. Every corner of this campus has a story. I am still collecting mine.

Resilience

Check out my PhD conferences

Nobody tells you, when you start a PhD, quite how much of the time you will spend sitting with uncertainty. My research sits at the intersection of system dynamics and supply chain management — building simulation frameworks to quantify how supply chains recover from disruptions. The problems are complex, the models are demanding.

I hold a PMRF Fellowship — one of India's most prestigious doctoral fellowships. I have presented my work at IIM Nagpur, IIM Ranchi, IISc Bangalore, and at the 43rd International System Dynamics Conference (ISDC 2025) in Boston, USA. Each conference has sharpened my thinking and reminded me why the work matters.

iii. Hostel Life

From H1 to Athena — Queen of H11

At Panjab University, I lived in Hostel H1. At IIT Bombay, I am in Hostel 11 — Athena — where I am, per hostel tradition, the Queen. The room is the kind of small that forces a particular kind of focus and creativity. One desk, one window, a whiteboard, and walls that have slowly accumulated the personality of a researcher who also paints, writes poetry, and does crochet.

Hostel life at IIT Bombay is its own education — the late-night discussions, the friendships forged under deadline pressure, the community of people from every corner of India. My hostel inmate Swarnali even crocheted me a rose and a sunflower. It is impossible to feel entirely alone in a place that buzzes this consistently with life, ambition, and laughter.

Building connections through research, creativity, and mathematics.

Say hello,
then let's build something meaningful.

Trust no future, however pleasant.
Let the dead Past bury its dead.
Act,— act in the living Present!
Heart within, and God o'erhead!

— A Psalm of Life · Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I am glad to hear from researchers, students, educators, and anyone curious about mathematics, operations research, or the journey of a PhD scholar who also writes poetry and runs a YouTube channel.

If you are writing about a collaboration or conference: please include the event details, dates, and a line about why the research would be a good fit. I try to reply within 48 hours.

If you are a student: please do write. Whether it is about GATE preparation, CSIR-NET, PhD applications, or simply navigating academic life — I take those messages seriously and respond with care.

The best conversations I have had started with someone saying: “I didn't know mathematics could do that.” That's exactly the kind of conversation I want to keep having.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep…

— Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening · Robert Frost
